One of the greatest videos I’ve seen recently that addresses the heart of not just conservatism, but what it is to be an American: Free and surrounded by Opportunity!

Over the last 30 years, as government has grown more and more liberal, it’s amazing that so many fail to see exactly how this government we’re evolving into is increasingly more about power over the people than being of and by the people. These last 6 years, especially, should be about as much evidence as any man or woman should need to understand how great of a lie those currently at the helm of today’s liberalism are spreading.

They promise more freedom through increased government programs. But freedom doesn’t come through reliance and dependency on what government can and will provide us, rather through our own independence.

“Cut the Deficit in Half” LIE

The rate of spending under this administration, with these leaders – from both sides of the isle – has outpaced any president or group of elected officials. Obama claims Bush got us in debt to the tune of $4T “by his lonesome”. Reality is, There are 436 elected representatives (including the president) who are responsible for increases in our debt. Both parties are guilty of accepting and creating excess expenditures by our government laced with good intentions that only weigh us down with more debt.

“Keep Your Health Insurance” LIE

Not only has Obamacare created a loss of insurance coverage for many families, it’s going to increase the financial burden on the whole of us. It’s created another complication to our taxes, which were already complicated enough as it was.

We are still experience a lower rate of employment than Obama “inherited” from Bush. Yet, Obama continues playing golf and his family’s vacations are more lavish and expensive than his predecessors have every afforded themselves.

How can we, after months of supporters chanting “Hope and Change” and a man, then candidate for President, declaring his intentions pretty clearly that this isn’t the America he believes in and that we needed to change. He never really painted a clear picture, rather built up a vague expectation of something better for all those who would listen to him. He and those who built his campaign are masters of manipulation. Without being as clear and transparent as he promised our country needed a president to be, Obama got into office only to assume he had cart blanche to do what he has sought out to do the entire time. Now, we’re facing a radical shift away from our fundamentals as a country. Funny that fundamental change would mean abandoning core elements of what made and makes this country great!

“Fundamentally” changing this country are revolutionary words. Fundamental: forming a necessary base or core; of central importance. As a Constitution Scholar, he has convinced others to listen as he redefines the purpose, intent and fundamentals of the constitution and core of this country. Claiming humanity as the intention behind every divisive move, he and others in his court have pressed harder than ever before to manipulate people to become more divided based on issues of religion, marriage, nationality, religion, gender, gender preference, income, etc. Using the principle of Divide and Conquer, Obama has been able to fail to deliver on all his empty promises and shift blame to one group or another at his convenience. “I ended the war in Iraq” LIE

No, sir, Mr. President. You did not end the war in Iraq. You simply withdrew our troops. That state of the Middle East has only deteriorated since you became president. Congratulations on being President when intelligence led our troops to the success of killing Osama Bin Laden. Your lack of transparency with this take down may result in a Trip to the Moon level of conspiracy theories, “Did it ever really happen?”. But, as far as the Middle East is concerned, you’ve abandoned our principles and our allies. A war continues to rage on and has only escalated with your haste to leave the region. As great a sacrifice it is to lose one of our finest men and women in the field of battle, even our soldiers would rather be fighting against American threats on foreign soil than ever allowing the battle to return to our homeland. You didn’t end any war. You simply picked up and left the war.

If you want to know the truth, listen closely for the echos of President Reagan in the comparably few who are actually striving for a return to the fundamentals of this country instead of trying to redefine it.

That’s right. October 27, 1964, to be exact, Ronald Reagan gave a speech declaring his reasons for leaving the Democrat party and delivered a speech that was not only a great predictor of events that have come in the decades following, but the urgency expressed in this A Time for Choosing (The Speech – October 27, 1964) message are more relevant today than Reagan could have ever imagined. I would wager most of the Democrats of even his day (remember, many elected him President) would be astounded with the digression of this country in the last 6 years and the couple decades prior.

In that same address, Reagan declared what “the issue” should be during that election period he said the following, which should be the issue the electorate focuses on and decides on in these mid-term elections and in 2016.

There can be no real peace while one American is dying some place in the world for the rest of us. We’re at war with the most dangerous enemy that has ever faced mankind in his long climb from the swamp to the stars, and it’s been said if we lose that war, and in so doing lose this way of freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening. Well I think it’s time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by the Founding Fathers.

And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except the sovereign people, is still the newest and the most unique idea in all the long history of man’s relation to man.

This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

Approaching this 2014 Mid-Term and the 2016 Presidential Elections, the candidates voters should be seeking are those who have intentions of securing our freedoms, not offering empty promises.
